What API44 can do
A single entry point to the world's scholarly corpus. 500M+ publications from open international repositories, national library collections and academic registries β we query channels in parallel and return a deduplicated list enhanced with AI.
1. Quick start
Open the main page, type a topic in the search box and hit Enter. In 5-15 seconds you'll see results grouped by relevance.
Want smart ranking and a brief overview on top? Click β¦ AI next to the search box β the model will sort the top 15 and write 3-5 paragraphs with citations [N].
2. Search
Three modes (switched in the "β¦ AI" menu):

| Hybrid β¦ | Federated + AI rerank of top-15 + brief overview and follow-up questions. Good when you want to "understand what to read first". |
| Semantic | Meaning-based search via vector similarity. Finds related works even when keywords don't match. |

3. AI enhancement (β¦ button)
When you press β¦ AI, the system performs 4 operations:

After AI rerank you can add "peer-reviewed only", "not later than 2020", "focus on methodology" β the system remembers and applies it to all subsequent refinements. The chain accumulates, like a chat with a librarian.
4. Result cards
Each work is a separate card. On hover, tools appear:
- π copy β copies title + authors + link to clipboard
- π RU/EN β instant translation of title and abstract
- β DOI β opens the work on the publisher's site
- β OpenAlex / WikiData / ORCID β external profiles (if available)
Click the title β detailed page with citation graph and similar works.
5. Connection graph
After a search, a π graph button appears below. Opens an interactive visualization of links between found works (similar to list-org.com/graph for companies).
- Nodes β works, size depends on citation count
- Edges β shared authors, shared concepts, citation links
- Color β publication year (newer = brighter)
- Mouse drag β pan, scroll β zoom, click a node β work card
6. Export to Zotero / Mendeley / EndNote
Above the results β 4 export buttons:

The currently ranked set with filters is exported. Up to 200 works at a time.

Click on an author, institution or concept to open the profile:

The global language toggle is in the header β π·πΊ RU / π¬π§ EN (or press L). What gets translated:
- Interface (menus, buttons, labels)
- AI output language (overview, reasoning, related)
- Result cards β adds a "translation" field on demand
Translation cache is local, kept for 7 days. Once translated, no re-fetch.

- β No ads in search results (neither in free nor paid tiers)

- β We don't "personalize" results based on your profile without your knowledge

- β We don't fabricate DOIs / links β all identifiers are real, AI operates on top of source data

How many works are in the index?
500M+ publications from open international repositories, national library collections and academic registries.
Why is one query sometimes slower than another?
We query multiple channels in parallel. If one of them is slow β we wait up to 30 seconds, then continue without it. AI operations add another 5-10 seconds.
Where can I download the actual article?
Right from the card β link to publisher (if Open Access) or via DOI to the journal site. We don't host paywalled PDFs β that's for your institution's library.
Can I use it without registering?
Yes. Basic search, filters, BibTeX/RIS export, connection graph, profiles β all without an account. Registration is only needed for unlimited AI and saved searches.
What if a work I know exists isn't in the results?
Enter its DOI directly β we'll query all sources by that ID. If at least one has it, you'll see the card.
Is mobile supported?
Yes, the layout is responsive. The connection graph is easier on desktop.
